Can We Slop Our Way Through Fitness?

Generally any style of exercise is better than no exercise at all.

But, could you be doing yourself more harm than good if your form is horrible?

Maybe you won't hurt yourself (yet), but couldn't you use your time better and receive greater benefits from your energy if you did each exercise correctly? Or modified when you needed to until you can do that movement correctly? Do you think efficiency in movement matters?  Do you think body awareness and engaging the muscles you're working makes a difference?

Or, can we slop our way through fitness? After all we're not robots we don't go through life rigid,  we shouldn't have to be stiff, or perfect with each exercise.

Can showing up for a class, carelessly going through the strength movements, and just burning calories be good enough to help us get fit and feel better?

Is it more important for us to like the environment and kind of exercise we're doing regardless of whether we're doing crappy movements or not? Most of us don't even know when we're performing an exercise incorrectly. In a class setting the instructor can't possibly watch everybody, and we know we have to enjoy what we're doing otherwise we won't do it. So, is that good enough to keep us fit?

I don't know, maybe it depends on you. What do you want to accomplish through exercise? Most of us just want to be healthier, fitter and stronger. And we all want to feel good, successful, and accomplished when we're done exercising. But consider this, by taking the time to exercise efficiently, correctly, smartly and safely you may have a better chance in reaching your goals injury and pain free. And just as important you'll be able to stay in it for the long haul.  And that is what the ultimate goal should be.  So, is sloppy fitness good enough? I don't think so.
